Definitely Not A Deep Fryer
The electric turkey fryer is a good choice if you don’t want the mess or hazards of using oil for deep frying. For the money it does an okay job of doing nothing more than cooking your turkey and collecting the drippings. All in all, only buy this product if you want to make room in your oven or grill to cook somthing else at the same time.

One good thing about this fryer though is the wood chip tray for smoking. It seems to impart good smoke into the meat. Perhaps this fryer will work better as a low temp smoker. Will try that next. So, in short, if you are looking for that deep fried crispiness and look…this won’t give you that.

Cuisinart CDF-100 Compact 1.1-Liter Deep Fryer Reviews

Good Things Do Come In Small Packages
Wow, I’m a big fan of fried foods, homemade french fries especially fried in Canola Oil. I’ve used industrial restaurant sized fryers and worked from a stove top. This little puppy is probably one of the best little friers I’ve ever seen.

Most of the negative view of this fryer can be solved by simply reading the instruction booklet. Number one complaint, the cord falls off. Well yes it does, and that is by design. The cord is held into it’s socket on the fryer side with a magnet. This is so you can unplug the unit without pulling the fryer over and burning yourself with hot oil. It’s a common mistake, thinking the cord is broken. If you plug this in, attach the magnet end and don’t move the frier, it will not come unplugged.
Number two complaint, the basket is flimsy and falls over itself. It does not do that if you install the handle correctly. You have to squeeze the two sides and slip the pins into two holes and under a tab – the handle will never ever move in this position.

Here’s what I love about this appliance, it uses a small amount of oil – around a quart / liter. We don’t have fried foods very often, and I don’t cook a whole chicken at once. It’s just perfect for those side dishes – appetizer mozzarella sticks, egg rolls, jalapeno poppers, etc. You can do chicken fingers, fish sticks, donuts in here. Food cooks evenly and quickly. Heat up time is around 3 or 4 minutes. Cooking time varies a lot, but can be around 3 or 4 minutes.

The cover is ingeneous – it closes down tight around the top and the basket so no splashing of oil happens. Cook on the counter top with no fear of splashing oil everywhere. The carbon filter shouldn’t be cleaned every use, and it prevents splashes from coming out of the lid. The clear window, can see that oil will cloud that up over time, but it’s handy to see inside.

Frankly, I love this unit. It’s well built, solid construction, feels good in use. Cuisinart built a good small fryer in this unit.

Great Cuisinart Deep Fryer
I like this fryer. I fried a lot of Japanese-style food for a family of 4 and there is no oily smell in the house afterwards. It took me a while though. It is all right since I do not want a large appliance on my countertop anyway and that was why I bought it. The fryer is ideal for frying chicken nuggets, shrimp and even Tofu. I gave it 4 stars coz it is really small. It is too small if you are thinking of frying bone-in chicken sich as chicken breast.

This Presto CoolDaddy electric deep fryer includes several features that help you make tasty fried chicken, fish, shrimp, and French fries for up to six people. Its adjustable thermostat ranges from 250 to 375 degrees F, and its bright red indicator light signals when the oil has reached the desired temperature so food cooks no longer than necessary. A viewing window lets you track progress without opening the cover, and an included wire basket with an exterior handle means you can prevent spatters by lowering food into hot oil with the lid down.

Smart in structure, the fryer has a cool-touch exterior and a locking cover with a push-button latch for safety. Its anti-odor charcoal air filter removes without hassle, and the interior cooking pot is nonstick for quick cleanup. The wire interior basket features small holes–good for draining oil off while keeping small pieces in. Measuring approximately 13-1/2 by 10 by 11-1/2 inches, the cooker can be stored with the basket, handle, and cord inside. All parts should be washed by hand, and Presto includes a one-year warranty.

This is a great little fryer. It cooks enough for 2 servings at a time, do not overload. It has a nice list of features. The basket is very handy, the temperature guage and ready light work well and the lid with vents and a filter help reduce the grease smell in your house. Some foods with a lot of moisture will not fry well with the lid closed and even with the lid closed you will not eliminate the odor completely. I set this up on my stove when I use it so that I’m able to use the exhaust fan as well and then I am able to eliminate all of the smell. It cleans up nicely and I’m able to store the oil in it between uses for weeks.

The previous reviews clearly were not using as this is intended. I suspect they were overfilling with oil/food/both.

I love a bit of grease
A great gadget. No spills, no over boils, no stink, no mess.

Ensure your food is patted dry…or use a bit less oil if you don’t want an over boil of grease coming out of the top.

It also says, to prevent food gunk sticking to pan..like hand batter fish don’t use the basket. I just put the basket down into the grease and drop the fish in. Didn’t stick.

Easy to clean. Lid lifts off, and it has a small catch for when you open the lid in the back of the unit.

I think it was easy to clean. Lid comes off, filter pops out, bowl lifts out and the bowl is immersable. Little hot water and Dawn and like new…

It took about 51 ounces of oil.

Order extra filters, it only comes with one.

great little fryer
This fryer is way better than the one I bought a few years ago [the fry baby]. The only word of caution I want to share with folks is to really remove the ice crystals from food before putting in the fryer. The ice crystals make the oil boil up too much and will cause leakage. I had this happen the first time I fried, and since then I rinse the chicken wings under cool water and shake em off before putting them in the basket. If anyone is wondering, it takes a bottle and a half of cooking oil to get to the “max fill line”, which is where they recommend it to be. The cooking/draining basket is probably the best feature of the product because you can let the oil drain off before putting the food on paper towels. I’ve noticed a lot less grease on my paper towels after letting the food drain for a couple of minutes.

The Char-Broil Big Easy oil-less infared turkey fryer represents the next step forward in utilizing infared style cooking. This patented technology takes the mess and hassle out of cooking a perfect turkey (up to 16 lbs.) or other large cut of meat (chickens, pork tenderloings, or beef roasts). With no hot cooking oil to purchase, splatter, or dispose of, the Char-Broil Big Easy is the delcious, safe and easy alternative to oil-fried turkey. Cooking is done inside a double-wall cylindrical cooking chamber, powered by a fullly enclosed propane burner. Char Broil’s patented Heat Wave infard technology delivers juicy, crisp, flavorful results every time. Your favorite marinades can be injected and even dry rubs and sauces can be used for added flavor.

Delicious

Ask anyone to describe food prepared inside The Big Easy and “juicy” is the first word you’re likely to hear – followed by tender, moist, and flavorful. Instead of oil, the infrared heat penetrates the meat evenly and seals the juices inside. The result is a bird that’s moist inside and crispy outside—just as fried turkey should be.

Turkeys cooked in The Big Easy are prepared the same way as in traditional fryers and can be injected with marinades. However, The Big Easy allows for the use of rubs and seasoning flavor to be used on the outside, which can wash away with traditional turkey fryers. A removable drip pan located underneath The Big Easy heating chamber catches all the bird’s flavorful juices, allowing cooks to retain the essential ingredients of homemade gravy for further preparation on the stovetop.

A healthy alternative to oil frying, the Char-Broil Big Easy actually does more than just fry turkeys—it can also safely cook chicken, pork tenderloin, beef roast and most large cuts of meat up to 16 pounds, all in about eight to 10 minutes per pound. Doneness is determined not by cook time, but by the turkey’s internal temperature, which is safely measured using a meat thermometer, included with The Big Easy.

Safe

Thanksgiving just got a whole lot easier and healthier for those who love the juicy taste of fried turkey but hate the safety, cost and hassle issues related to cooking with oil. Because it’s oil-less, The Big Easy eliminates the dangers long associated with the incorrect and unsupervised use of deep fryers. Cooking occurs inside The Big Easy’s cylindrical, double-walled heating chamber, powered by a fully enclosed propane burner. The turkey or other meat is placed inside a drop-in basket that is lowered into the chamber and cooked with evenly distributed Infrared radiant heat.

We love the juicy and distinctive taste of fried turkey, but many of us have become increasingly wary of the fire dangers associated with deep fryers – and for good reason. In fact, firefighters and consumer product safety experts warn that unattended or improperly used turkey fryers can cause devastating house or deck fires. Cooking oil is combustible; therefore, if it is heated beyond its cooking temperature, then its vapors can ignite. In fact, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission noted “the majority of reported incidents occurred while the oil was being heated, prior to adding the turkey.”The Big Easy offers the perfect safe and healthy solution—great fried turkey taste without the oil.

Easy

Those who have fried a turkey using a traditional deep-fryer can testify that it is a labor-intensive process. Finding a safe location, buying oil, pre-heating the oil, cleaning up the mess and properly disposing of the used oil is inconvenient and time consuming.

Beyond being a “labor of love” for your family and friends, cooking with a traditional turkey fryer is also expensive proposition. That juicy, mouthwatering, crispy skinned result can put a significant dent in your wallet especially when it comes to buying the oil. Frying with peanut oil usually costs between $35-$40 per use. In addition to the cost, there is the problem of what to do with 3 to 4 gallons of peanut oil when the feast is over. Then the fun begins. Simply getting 3.5 to 4 gallons of used oil from a 26 to 30 quart pot back into a container or several containers is not a simple task. Then figuring out how and where to properly recycle the oil in your community is often a challenge.

The Char-Broil Big Easy eliminates all oil-related issues by simply eliminating the oil, allowing the backyard chef to spend less money and more time savoring the best turkey they have ever tasted. No more oil to buy and pre-heat. No more trying to figure out a safe, easy and environmentally friendly way to dispose of 3 to 4 gallons of used oil. Enjoy the convenience and savor the taste!

Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less Infrared Turkey Fryer Reviews

safety and savory
I have never owned or used a turkey frier. I am very safety minded and the thought of all that peanut oil at a high temperature and the open flame, well I just cant bring myself to buy one. I did, however purchase the Char-Broil Big Easy Oil-Less Infrared Turkey Fryer. So far in three weeks I have cooked three turkeys. Since I have never used a real deep fat turkey frier, the operational part of my review of the product is a bit one-sided. I can say that of all the appliances that have more than 2 moving parts, the ease of operation of the Big Easy is just that. Big and easy. The three turkeys I have cooked in the cooker were just under 12 pounds. The first was rubbed with olive oil, it was delicous and moist but a bit dark on the outside. The subsequent 2 were rubbed with peanut oil and had a better complection, but were just as moist and flavourful. I did experience a bit of overcooking of the drumsticks and wings. I believe that this could be cured by sheilding them with some aluminium foil (that will be my next experiment). I have yet to cook anything but turkeys, when I do though, I will make an addendum to this review. All in all, I am pleased with the product and highly praise its ease of use and safety in producing a nice fried turkey. My son is a proffesional Chef and agrees that my terminology is correct, oil has been used and as he states, “technically Dad, it is fried, but not deep fat fried” Thats ok by me.

Simply Awesome
Lets start by saying that I used the big easy to cook my first ever turkey, so I am obviously not a professional. The assembly was pretty straight forward and the hardware was organized nicely. I followed the included instructions for preparing and injecting the marinade in the turkey. Then all you have to do is insert the thermometer, put it in the big easy, and turn it on.

I cooked a 15lb turkey, and I found that it actually cooked a bit faster than 10 minutes a pound. Overall it took about 2 hours to fully cook it. The math said it would take 30 minutes longer, but I pulled it when the thermometer hit 170.

The results were as advertised. The turkey came out nice and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The rub and marinade (Cajun butter) really gave it that little something extra. the bird got rave reviews from all that tried it. Matter of fact I think I may have sold at least two other people on the big easy. One of which is looking for alternatives to peanut oil based frying due to allergies in the family.

Overall, the only way they could make this thing better is if they included a sample marinade and injector for your first cooking experience. Oh and I think I might research a little about the infrared technology so that I can answer the questions the next time I have people over.

Perfect!
Where I live, people rave about fried turkeys. I’ve never had the chance to taste one, so I decided to buy a turkey fryer and give it a try. However, I had concerns about the safety of turkey frying, plus the health issues of frying in oil, plus the expense of buying all that peanut oil, plus disposing of the oil…so, when I saw the Big Easy Oil-less fryer, I went for it.

I have to admit, I was skeptical. I really wanted to taste fried turkey and I didn’t see how a device which appeared to be more of an oven could fry my turkey without oil. Well, today I cooked my Thanksgiving turkey and I have to say we were blown away. Crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside just doesn’t even begin to do justice to describing this turkey. I still haven’t tasted an oil fried turkey, so I can’t say if this turkey tasted the same, but I can’t imagine any turkey tasting better. My husband raved about it long after the meal was over. He was not too happy about my spending money on a turkey fryer, but after he tasted the turkey, he decided I “did good.” He is already talking about cooking a turkey when his sister comes to visit next spring.

Once put together, this appliance couldn’t be any easier to use. You hook it up to the propane tank, put the turkey in, turn it on, and wait for the meat thermometer to get to the right temperature. No turning or basting.

I had to do a little finagling because I had already bought a 21 pound turkey. The maximum is supposed to be 16 pounds. It did fit in the basket, though, so I gave it a go. The top of the cooker is open and it was cold enough to be snowing (remember, this is an outdoor cooker). Because the turkey was so large, the end that was up wasn’t getting cooked enough. I don’t think this would be an issue with a smaller turkey. I took a piece of foil, poked vents in it, and put it over the top of the cooker. This can only be done for a few minutes because the top of the turkey started getting cooked very quickly with the foil over it. However, it did the trick and the whole turkey came out perfectly.

By the way, I basted the turkey with a healthy oil with Omega 3, made of a combination of canola, soy, and olive oil. I stuffed the inside with a chopped apple, a small chopped onion, and four kinds of fresh herbs- oregano, thyme, rosemary and basil. The herbs infused the whole turkey with a wonderful flavor.

You don’t need a 6- gallon oil vat to enjoy deep- fried foods at home–this petite deep fryer makes four big servings with just 4 cups of oil. A compact 7 inches in diameter, the fryer features easy controls for precision frying: it automatically maintains the proper frying temperature, letting you focus on cooking instead of fussing with the controls. The fryer features a snap-on lid, so you can store oil right in the fryer for reuse. All surfaces are nonstick for tidy cleanup (the fryer is not dishwasher-safe and should never be completely immersed in water). A hand scoop is included with the fryer for easy stirring, lifting, and draining, and the 120-volt AC cord unplugs from the outlet, while the attached handle makes the fryer easy to move around the kitchen. The fryer has a two-year limited warranty.

Presto 05420 FryDaddy Electric Deep Fryer Reviews

It Does The Job!
I’ve had one of these little fryer appliances since they first became popular in the seventies. The current model is the second one I’ve had, being larger than the original model that came out.

For someone not needing to fry enormous amounts at one time, this little machine is ideal. It requires only a very small amount of vegetable oil. I’ve used it to fry chicken wings, quickly, to do french fries and onion rings, to do other smaller chicken parts, and it works beautifully. There is no thermostat; you just plug it in, wait 10 minutes, and the temp is 375. Having such a small amount of grease, it recovers heat more quickly than an electric skillet.

When you are through, if you plan to reuse the grease you can simply let the machine cool, snap the plastic top on, the put the whole thing in the fridge. I don’t fry that often, and when I do, I tend to fry a lot, so usually I just discard the oil. Such a small amount is used (usually no more than 3 cups starting out) that I don’t feel bad about discarding the oil.

The sides on this appliance are quite high, and splatter around the machine has never been a problem. I used common sense, though, when I fry, whether it’s here or on the stove.

I’m sure the all-enclosed auto-fryers that are out on the market are nice, and if I fried a lot I’d probably get one. However, I only fry once or twice a month, and for that, this little machine is perfect. I’d recommend one to anyone–durable, simple, and does exactly what it’s designed for!

Good for my frying needs
I fry things about 1-2 times a week, and I liked my fried things to be very crispy yet not laden with oil. I wanted something that would truly get to a hotter frying temperature, to make my frying quicker and more “healthful”…(healthy frying….is that an oxymoron or what?) Because I don’t fry THAT often, I just needed something simple.

I like this fryer because the heat-up time is very quick, and there is much less splatter then if you were frying in a pot. When I fry, I usually do your typical fried foods: fries, onion rings, wontons, etc. I have not tried to do anything else in it yet.

If the oil is fairly clean after I use it, I will put it in the refridgerator, but not keep more than a week. This is a very simple fryer. If you are a more heavy-duty fryer, then you might want to look into a fancier one. The exterior is not cool-touch, and there is no basket. If you only do small batches of things, and don’t really fry that much, or even if you do, then this will be a great fryer for you.

Simple to Use
This machine is really easy to use…I fried dough to make funnel cake and donuts, and it was simple. All you have to do is put in your oil, heat it up, and add the dough. The number of things you can fry is endless. My personal favorites are the funnel cake, chicken tenders, and french fries. Depending on what you are making, cooking time can vary from mere minutes to a half hour. Experiment, create your own recipes, it’s easy.

One word of advice is to make sure to clean the fryer and change the oil regularly. Nothing is worse than frying with old oil. Keep the fryer very clean! Enjoy!
